HUGE SUCCESS – the ACDP has been hard at work on an amendment to the Labour Laws in South Africa. This amendment provides for parental and adoption leave in support of strong healthy families, as opposed to only the maternity leave that is currently in place. This Bill is now sitting on President Ramaphosa’s desk, ready to be signed into law. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­

The Select Committee on Economic and Business Development deliberated and finalised the Labour Laws Amendment Bill on August 7th. The Bill has now passed through both the National Assembly (NA) and the National Council of Provinces (NCPO) and will now go to President Cyril Ramaphosa to be signed into law. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­

Cheryllyn Dudley thanked everyone who contributed to the cause when she was congratulated by her party:

The Labour Laws Amendment Bill provides for parental and adoption leave in support of strong healthy families.
